State Championship Rules


The 2008 NEAAU State Championships will play under the 2010-2011 National Federation of State High School Association except where amended.

Dress code: All Coaches must wear slacks or dress shorts, a collared shirt with sleeves, and shoes/ sneakers- no hats, opened toed shoes.  Team warm-up suit may be worn.

Coaches: Teams are allowed 1 head coach and 3 bench personnel per team and they must be on their rosters and all must be AAU members.

Home Team: Higher seeded team in the pool or in bracket play top team in the bracket will be the HOME team. Home Team will sit on the LEFT side of the scorers table and will wear white. The tournament director may use judgement of a lighter color in absence of white.

Game time: Starting time will be enforced to the minute.  There is no grace period.  Teams will be given a minimum of 5 minute warm-up time. 

Time:Ages 13u thru 17u will play (2) 16 minutes halves of regulation.  Overtimes shall consist of 3 minute periods.   Ages 9u- 12u will play (2) 14 minute halves of regulation.  Overtimes shall consist of 3 minute periods.

Basketball Size:  Ages 9u- 12u shall use the 28.5 size basketball.

Halftime: 3 minutes

Timeouts:  Teams will have 5 timeouts per game to utilize.  1-timeout will be added per overtime period.

Fouls:Teams will shoot 1 and 1 on the 7th team foul and double bonus on the 10th team foul.

Personal fouls:  Individuals will have 5 fouls.  On the 5th personal foul he shall be disqualified.

Pressing: In the 10u Division, if a team is ahead by 20 points they may NOT press. In all other age divisions, there will be no pressing full court if a team is ahead by 30 points. First offense: Warning. Second Offense: Technical Foul

Ejections: Any player or coach ejected from a contest shall sit out the next contest and may be suspended from participating for the remainder of the tournament.

Tournament Play:  All teams will advance to the Championship Bracket. Head to head play will be the first determination of pool winner.  A maximum of 15 point differential will be utilized in determining how to break ties in the pool.    

Protests: A coach must file a protest within 2 hours of completion of protested contest.  This MUST be in writing and given to the Tournament Director.  It MUST be accompanied with $100 cash refundable deposit.

All Coaches Must Check-in 1 hour before scheduled 1st game.  Exceptions:  Those playing on a Friday or 8:30 AM on Saturday Must check in 1/2 Hour before 1st game.
Coaches must present all proper paperwork- copies of AAU Cards, copies of Grade Reports
